Innovation and inspiration at Doors Open Day 2026
Over 800 people visited The National Robotarium for this year’s Doors Open Day Edinburgh event, held at the UK’s centre for robotics and AI on Saturday 28 September.
Robot enthusiasts of all ages flocked to the facility for live demonstrations with humanoids and quadrupeds, an opportunity to grill the AI-empowered Ameca in a live ‘Ask Me Anything’ conversation, tour the Robotarium’s Human-Robot Interaction and Robotics and Autonomous Systems labs, and enjoy hands-on activities, including VEX Robotics kits, an optical light demo with the Precision Laser Lab team, and a number AI challenges, including ‘Real or Fake’ developed with Heriot-Watt Engage and researchers from the School of Mathematical and Computer Sciences.
The event also coincided with Heriot-Watt University’s undergraduate Open Day, allowing prospective Engineering and Computer Science students the opportunity to learn about robotics courses and see the levels of technology and expertise within the institution.
